Do you mind telling us a bit more about that degree of yours? Just curious.

Thanks guys!
I'm writing about the problems in F1, and I try to give some possible solutions for those problems. I'm at marketing Msc, so one of the problems are marketing and promotion. I enjoy writing my essay, so it is a very good thing that I'm not suffering in the Uni with the diploma, rather enjoying it.

The biggest problem in F1 today, in my opinion, is too much money influence making it more of a circus and less of a sport. Entry fees for tracks are too high nowadays when most of the world still struggles with economic crisis effects, thus some true legendary tracks are forced to withdraw from the sport or even go bankrupt. I don't know if it has any effect on F1 business-wise, but I'm sure it ruins the sport.

Like Sermilan said, the biggest problem is who gets what money, the fact there is no coherent budget rules and the disparity between top teams and bottom teams, meaning they will never achieve. Underdogs no longer exist.

Yep. The whole problem is that the guy in charge does the best to fill his pockets, not the best for F1 unfortunately. I'm a marketing student as well, looking to study an Msc in marketing too. I believe if F1 management is handed to the right people, and with such budget the sport is running on, it's a gold mine for the inventive marketeers out there. P.S. Looks like this thread is turning into an actual topic

One of the biggest challengers the sport has got is that it is too elitist and difficult to become part of. The sport shouldn't be about who spends the most but who engineers the best car. So if someone wants to come along with an adapted chassis from GP2 or buy "off the shelf" from another team then they should be encouraged to do so.
There is far too much internal back patting in F1, you can see that from the hugely unneccessary corporate mega-structures parked in the paddock.
F1 should be about specialist engineering companies (see Williams and Manor Motorsport for example), with manufacturers supplying engines.
