Brundle would be a far better lead commentator than Legard. He can do both because despite being an ex-racer, he is brilliant at calling what is happening. He did it quite a bit in 2010 I can remember a few occasions where he was commentating on a battle

Seeing as the rumour that Coulthard will be replacing Legard is now being reported by a number of media outlets, I've added a new poll asking what your preferred commentary team is.

Lead Commentator: Ben Edwards
Commentator: Martin Brundle

Commenting is a different planet. I don't think Brundle can handle it, no offence just it's not his strong suit. In order to give insight you have to be able to look situations on a higher step. When you are in the situation explaining what's going on, you can't see the big picture, i.e. what's going on between the lines, behind the scenes. It's just not possible. Lead commentator speaks only what he sees, commentator speaks where he looks. That's quite a difference folks and if that ever happens, it will kill Brundle's insights.

If Sky are broadcasting in HD, then surely they have been told by F~0~M that HD will be available - unless Sky will use 1 or 2 of their own cameras.

in one of the interviews with the BBC last year Bernie confirmed HD will the available from 2011.
Seeing that BBC had shown last few races up-scaled (+ with HD cameras for pre and post race) in their HD channel I don't think why they would not go to HD.

more channels to broadcast F1 in HD :D
I am pleased to confirm that from the first event of the 2011 Championship and for every other event throughout the year, the International Feed will now be originated and offered in High Definition. This will apply for all sessions including Official Support events such as GP2, GP3 and the Porsche Supercup. The feed itself will be offered in 42 Mb/s MPEG2 throughout the world with a 22 Mb/s MPEG 4 option for the Americas.

Once again, for 2011, there will be 2 feeds both of which will be in High Definition. The content of each feed will be exactly the same, one feed will be the Wide International Feed (WIF); this will be a dirty 16:9 Broadcast with full 16:9 aspect ratio graphics with embedded audio. The second signal will be the Narrow International Feed (NIF); this will be a dirty 16:9 Broadcast with 4:3 safe area graphics also with embedded audio. The audio will consist of a Stereo Mix on Ch. 1 and a surround sound 5.1 Mix encoded as Dolby E Bitstream on Ch. 2.

This is fantastic. Wide graphics finally! Too long have the graphics been too far away from the edges. Superb!

The BBC, as well as Australia's One HD, have both confirmed they'll be taking HD coverage this year.
